I want to wholeheartedly recommend Fanja for your malagasy lessons.
After enjoying one month vacation traveling in Madagascar, I wanted to return and explore the country further, but with the ability to communicate in Malagasy during my visits. Over six months, from Sept 2022 to March 2023 Fanja was my teacher every other morning on Zoom, patient and supportive despite the 10 hour time difference (and Madagascar idiosyncrasies with power and internet).
It has been a delightful adventure acquiring the basic fluency, and a little more, of Malagasy. Fanja is an experienced teacher, friendly and displays the patience required to deal with a beginner student. My next stop will be Antsirabe for more practice and intense face to face learning. Fanja is a wonderful resource to prepare your trip and stay in Madagascar.

I cannot recommend lessons with Fanja Rabemiafara enough! Her teaching style is interactive and participative - which means sessions are enjoyable, engaging, and effective even as a solo learner.
I have studied with Fanja for about 5 months.
Starting from a beginner level was ideal. Learning 1-on-1 means we’re able to move through lessons at my own pace, with each session catered to my level and objectives!
It’s clear that Fanja has a very experienced approach because, in a relatively short period of time, I have been able to learn many new words and their pronunciation.
To be completely honest, the only limit to learning with Fanja is how much time you are willing to dedicate! By scheduling multiple lessons each week, there is enough time to adequately review and learn more words to progress each session.
It’s also worth noting that Fanja is extremely kind, patient, punctual, and professional. I would recommend Fanja’s services to anyone looking to learn Malagasy.

Dear Sirs,
I studied Malagasy with Madam Fanja for 3 months April June and July 2021to and I was pleased to have developed my understanding and experience of Malagasy in that time. I already had experience speaking Malagasy and she spent time learning where my understanding was, and where it wasn't, giving input as needed, and developing a course for me using her existing and new materials. I appreciated her adaptability and sincerity and would recommend her to anyone.
It would be fantastic to visit in person for an intensive course, but she made online learning very possible and I am very grateful for the time I spent with her. I feel confident that anyone who goes to her will have a similar and successful experience, and I would recommend it highly.

I, Ifaliana Rabe, am a current student of Fanja Ralaindratsiry. I started learning Malagasy with Fanja in early 2021 through zoom classes and have found it extremely helpful in improving my Malagasy conversational skills. Although I am Malagasy and have a basic knowledge of the language, it was helpful to practice with Fanja as I live abroad and do not have much interaction with other Malagasy speakers. Fanja was great at meeting me at my level and adapting to the way I learn. She very quickly learned what my strengths and weaknesses were and promptly made sure that our classes focused on the areas where I needed improvement. She is very accommodating and patient especially when it comes to scheduling lessons, and she is also very happy to help and is easily accessible for quick questions even outside of class. Since I have started learning Malagasy with Fanja as my teacher, I have had many people comment on how much my Malagasy has improved. It is a joy to be Fanja’s student and I recommend her to anyone whether they are just starting to learn Malagasy or just need improving in specific areas.
